Digitize and Conduct Pilot-testing (pre-test) of the digitized USEP Academic Progress Scorecard
The teaching-learning process involves monitoring and evaluation. The USEP Academic Progress Scorecard is a tool that was developed to enhance reporting and decision-making in relation to the science teaching process. This shall improve the effectiveness of the science teaching and learning process in schools.
Presently the USEP Academic Progress scorecard is in form of a hard-copy book. In assessing the effectiveness and use of the scorecard, the users reported that they use the different areas of the scorecard when the need arises by first photocopying that part and then administering the forms. Which are later analyzed and reports forwarded to the school headteacher. As a result of this need, the process of entrenching the scorecard in schools has been hectic and costly for schools; the sharing of reports generated while administering the scorecard has been a challenge at the school level.
Report sharing has also been challenging between the schools and the USEP secretariat. That is why DIGITIZING the USEP Academic Progress Scorecard has been introduced to ease the process of using the USEP Academic Progress Scorecard in schools.
A needs assessment tool was designed and shared with the schools to fill digitally/virtually. The results were collated and used to inform the planning process. A suitable software and platform has been selected and the first phase of digitalization of the USEP Academic Progress Scorecard is expected to conclude in December 2022.
